An “Order to Show Cause” (called an “OSC”) is a court hearing at which a party seeks temporary orders for the period between the date of filing for divorce and the final decree. These orders provide for such matters as temporary custody and visitation of your children, child and spousal support (if appropriate) and any necessary injunctive orders (i.e., exclusive use of residence, protective orders, etc.).
