Many people do not like to talk with their spouse or former spouse during the pendency of the case, and refer everything to their lawyers. Obviously, bad feelings and emotions many times make this the only way to proceed. However, a great deal can be accomplished through a calm, objective discussion of the problem, whether it is visitation, support or custody. Please try to keep the lines of communication open. We remind you that you may be dealing with this person long after the lawyers are out of the picture. Keep notes of the dates and times of your conversations, all persons present, and what was said by each of you.
