Children
Where there are children involved, a dissolution of marriage becomes much more complex, and usually more emotionally draining. No parent wants to deprive his or her child its right to have two parents, unless one of the parties will abuse the child, which happens only in rare cases. It is important to remember, regardless of the intensity of the feelings of the spouses, that the emotional and social health of young lives is literally at stake here. The courts will—and the spouses should—always consider first the best interests of the child. You will never regret making personal sacrifices so that your child will be healthier and happier.
Links to particular articles that will help the children involved come out of the divorce process more whole and healthy are in this section, as well as insights into the California law on support, visitation, custody, and paternity.
